The Temple Is For God

1 Chronicles 29:1b gives insight as David speaks of his son,

“My son Solomon,

whom alone God has chosen,

is young and inexperienced;

and the work is great,

because the temple is not for man

but for the LORD God.”

As God chose Solomon to build the temple, He chose us through Christ to build today. As Solomon is described as young and inexperienced, that is us, too. We bring nothing to the table. We come to Him as children knowing anything we have to give came from Him. The Kingdom work is indeed great, and we are wholly reliant on Him to do it.

"If anyone speaks,

let him speak as the oracles of God.

If anyone ministers,

let him do it as with the ability which God supplies,

that in all things

God may be glorified through Jesus Christ,

to whom belong the glory and the dominion

forever and ever. Amen.”

1 Peter 4:11

Now for the phrase that is such an important reminder,

“…the temple is not for man, but for the LORD God.”

The temple today is made up of believers, and it is for God. 1 Peter 2:5 says,

“…you also, as living stones,

are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood,

to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”

It is so important that we hear from the Lord and obey Him. This is His plan, His temple, and it is all for Him. That is where the joy is. Not in having things the way we think we want them, but by humbly doing all things as unto the Lord.

“Therefore, whether you eat or drink,

or whatever you do,

do all to the glory of God.”

1 Corinthians 10:31
