Remember!

A friend’s husband notified her that he would be coming home from his ski trip with a couple of black eyes. He was going down a slope he had run before, but hit a point where he should have gone left instead of right. There were moguls on the right and he just forgot. He ended up face planting. What a great spiritual analogy as God is constantly telling His children throughout Scripture to remember!

Psalm 78:42 explains a critical error made by ancient Israel,

“They did not remember His power:

The day when He redeemed them from the enemy…”

Forgetting can cause us to make some serious wrong turns.

There’s a verse in Hebrews 12 that makes me think of a downhill ski race with markers set out. Verse 1 says,

“Therefore, since we are surrounded

by such a great cloud of witnesses,

let us throw off everything that hinders

and the sin that so easily entangles,

and let us run with perseverance

the race marked out for us.”

Jesus has gone before us and marked out our race. He always guides us in the right way and leads us to victory. Let’s hear from Him, obey Him, and remember! This fallen world can sure send in some sharp curves as we run headlong in our pursuit of serving Christ. If you’ve forgotten and hit a rough patch, cry out to Him. Let’s keep our eyes on Jesus, and here’s some good news,

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit,

whom the Father will send in My name,

He will teach you all things,

and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”

John 14:26
