Psalm 50: God Summons The Earth

We’re going to venture through Psalm 50 to worship our Creator and build our faith for what’s ahead. I love how our King is introduced,

“The Mighty One, God the LORD,

speaks and summons the earth

from the rising of the sun to its setting.”

Psalm 50:1

What power and authority!

With all the upheaval and instability in the world right now, this truth just settles my soul. In the evil, chaos, and confusion of this fallen world, we need reminders that God is sovereign. From the rising of the sun to its setting, He is always in control.

His Word is power. It is meant to be obeyed. He speaks and summons and woe to those who refuse the call or ignore the command. I ask Him often to help me hear Him and give me the strength to obey. He will never lead us astray. And if He asks something hard of us, it will be for our good and His glory.

We can rest knowing that ultimately God will be heard and obeyed. And that is a very good thing. Enjoy these Scriptures that highlight His power to speak and summon all of creation. Nothing is outside of His control.

“He will raise a signal for nations far away,

and whistle for them from the ends of the earth;

and behold, quickly, speedily they come!”

Isaiah 5:26

“I will whistle for them and gather them in,

for I have redeemed them,

and they shall be as many as they were before.”

Zechariah 10:8

“…that people may know, from the rising of the sun

and from the west, that there is none besides me;

I am the LORD, and there is no other.”

Isaiah 45:6
