Journeying in Genesis: The Wonder of His Word
I’m enjoying this stroll through creation to take time to “smell the roses” and spot the glorious treasures abounding. How kind of our Father to have it recorded! Before we leave Day Three, we’re going to spread a blanket and picnic here to press into a very important point: God’s Word is our daily bread. His Word accomplishes so much and our souls need it desperately.
“Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
Matthew 4:4b
We see preparation and manifestation of plant life through the wonder working power of God’s Word. He speaks, and it is done. It is done, and it is good. Let’s meditate on two passages today.
“For as the earth brings forth its sprouts,
and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up,
so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise
to sprout up before all the nations.”
Isaiah 61:11
He has done this through Christ, the very Word made flesh. Oh, Lord, that the nations would partake!
Now look at the effect of His Word in Isaiah 55:10-11,
“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven
and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”
Lord, make us hungry that our hearts might feast on Your Word; that we would be Your vessels bearing Your spiritual seed and Your spiritual bread to strengthen Your body and glorify Your name.
