Journeying in Genesis: Here Comes the Sun!

As we’ve witnessed God creating what is needed for life and beauty, we know plants require sunlight. He had spoken light into the darkness, but now in day four, here comes the sun!

“And God said,

‘Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens

to separate the day from the night.

And let them be for signs and for seasons,

and for days and years,

and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens

to give light upon the earth.’

And it was so.”

Genesis 1:14-15

It’s obvious that God is working with a future and a sense of order in mind. He is working in our hearts and lives with a future and a sense of order in mind too.

God knows that sin will come in to mar this perfection. Salvation was planned before the foundation of the world. Just as plants need the sun to live, humans will not have spiritual, eternal life apart from the Son. As Jesus came toward John the Baptist he said,

“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29b

Here comes the Son!

God spoke of captive Israel in Jeremiah 29:11,

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD,

plans for welfare and not for evil,

to give you a future and a hope.”

This is only true for children of the Day. Children of the night refuse the Son, trample the blood of His sacrifice, and remain in darkness with no future or hope. But for those who come under the blood of Christ, there is a future and a hope that brings cleansing, order, and beauty; eternal life and glory to God.

Here comes the Son - trust in Him!
