Bless The Lord!

“You shall love the LORD your God

with all your heart,

with all your soul,

and with all your mind.”

Matthew 22:37b

This command becomes a joyful opportunity as we get to know Him. Psalm 72:12-14 lists so many things to love about our Creator,

“For He will deliver the needy when he cries,

The poor also, and him who has no helper.

He will spare the poor and needy,

And will save the souls of the needy.

He will redeem their life from oppression and violence;

And precious shall be their blood in His sight.”

How can we not love One like that? As we grow in our knowledge of who He really is, we grow in our love and wonder of Him. In Romans 7:18 Paul says he knows that in his flesh (and ours) nothing good dwells. Left to ourselves we would never love and appreciate God. I’m so grateful for salvation in Christ. As the Holy Spirit renews our minds, we can genuinely proclaim with the Psalmist in Psalm 103:1,

“Bless the LORD, O my soul;

And all that is within me, bless His holy name!”

When that doesn’t resonate, I know I’m not in my right mind. Thankfully, we can run to the Lord and ask Him to help us renew our minds in who He truly is and remember all He’s done for us. We then turn and rejoice once again in our great God, declaring with Psalm 72:18-19,

“Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel,

Who only does wondrous things!

And blessed be His glorious name forever!

And let the whole earth be filled with His glory.

Amen and Amen.”
