Awestruck Wonder - Day Six: Working In You What Is Well Pleasing in His Sight
“Now may the God of peace
who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead,
that great Shepherd of the sheep,
through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
make you complete in every good work to do His will,
working in you what is well pleasing in His sight,
through Jesus Christ,
to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
Hebrews 13:20-21 NKJV
What an amazing thing that God would create us and be at work in us with what is well pleasing to Him. As we see in our passage, He does it through Jesus Christ, our highest joy. He is the potter and we are the clay. That means we can rest in Him as He does the work.
"But now, O LORD,
You are our Father;
We are the clay, and You our potter;
And all we are the work of Your hand.”
Isaiah 64:8
One of the most freeing things we find as believers, is that we no longer live to please people. It’s impossible to please everyone, which leads to stress. But when we seek to please God alone, He gives us what we need to be obedient. He assures us He is working in us what pleases Him. Only God can make us well pleasing in His sight.
May 2 Corinthians 5:9 be true for us,
“Therefore we make it our aim,
whether present or absent,
to be well pleasing to Him.”
Let’s live these lives diligently abiding in Him, so His plans and purposes will abound in us to the glory of our Savior and King. Let’s rejoice in the wonder of Luke 12:32 as we learn what gives Him pleasure,
“Do not fear, little flock,
for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
