Where There is Christ, There is Hope

I saw a tiny flower peaking up between two stones. At some point a seed had made its way between the cracks, providing a wonderful spiritual analogy. In the parable of the sower in Mark 4, the seed (representing God’s Word) falls on various types of soil (representing hearts). When the seed fell on stony ground it immediately sprang up and withered. Someone once asked, “But what if there were an earthquake and a crack appeared in the stone?” Obviously the earth would be exposed, and like that little flower, there would be soil with depth to receive the seed.

God can do anything, including cracking the hardest heart. Don’t give up praying for those whose hearts may seem impenetrable to the Gospel. He is the God who can turn stone to flesh. Ezekiel 36:26 says,

"And I will give you a new heart,

and a new spirit I will put within you.

And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh

and give you a heart of flesh.”

I love how Ephesians 2:4-7 reminds us that we once walked in darkness according to the course of this world just like all the others who chose things targeted for His wrath. But Verse 4 continues with, “But God…”

All things are possible with Him.

“But God, being rich in mercy,

because of the great love with which he loved us,

even when we were dead in our trespasses,

made us alive together with Christ—

by grace you have been saved—

and raised us up with him

and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

so that in the coming ages

he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace

in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”
