Psalm 50: There Is No One Like Our God

Judgement day will come. If we’re not careful, we can get caught up in this temporary life and miss the eternal picture. I think of those who claim to be Christian, but oppose the truth of Scripture. They might even sell books or enjoy acclaim, but they are leading souls astray and misrepresenting God. They will give an account.

Proverbs 1:7 says,

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge;

fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

These false teachers do not teach God as revealed in Scripture. They often proclaim their way kinder than the God of the Bible. No one is kinder than He is. Our Psalm 50 verse for today explains what’s going on.

“These things you have done, and I have been silent;

you thought that I was one like yourself.

But now I rebuke you and lay the charge before you.”

Psalm 50:21

Many think if God is not striking them, they’re okay. They confuse His patience with acceptance. There’s a secular song that includes the lyrics, “What if God was one of us…” That is a frightening thought. Thankfully, He is not. He is other. He is glorious, gracious, and is the only Savior. He is the Creator, and we are the created.

God reveals Himself in Scripture, which is why those who want to create a god unlike the one true God move away from the Bible. True believers get into God’s Word to see who He really is. May we hear the words, “I rebuke you and lay the charge before you” with time to repent, rather than at the judgment seat when it is too late.

“…for I am God, and there is no other;

I am God, and there is none like me…”

Isaiah 46:9
