Journeying in Genesis: Meditating on Our Glorious Designer
Today we’ll practice Psalm 145:5 as we begin our look at Day Five of creation. It says,
“On the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.”
Let’s begin by taking in Genesis 1:20-21,
“And God said,
‘Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures,
and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens.’
So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves,
with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds,
and every winged bird according to its kind.
And God saw that it was good.”
God does nothing halfway. He is a God of abundance and glory. He didn’t just make plants and trees, He made many types of plants and trees. He did the same with living creatures. He commanded the waters to swarm with them, and birds to fly across the expanse above the earth. He spoke and created. We stand in wonder at the various types; patterns and colors; camouflage and beauty. He is so creative!
Again we see each according to its kind. Everything has its place and predetermined purpose. We want to be sure we are walking in ours. When we think of elements of matter, molecules, atoms, and the variety and intricacies of all He has made, we know we cannot begin to comprehend the brilliance of the God of Creation. Psalm 33:8 lets us know that we should stand in awe of Him. As you take in creation today (even in its fallen state) let’s stand in awe and worship its Designer and Maker.
Lord, You are worthy of all glory and wonder. Cause us to spot Your glory and worship as we go about our days.
