Journeying in Genesis: Made Suitable

“Now out of the ground the LORD God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him.” Genesis 2:19-20

We’ve highlighted reproduction being each with its own kind. God’s plan for mankind to reproduce in His image, would be for the spreading of His glory. By naming each creature, Adam was well aware of what was out there. He was already learning to trust the Lord and His plan. God knew what He would do. Adam was allowed to see a need that God would have to provide.

“So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.” Genesis 2:21-22

The Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is gathering a bride for His Son made up of the redeemed. Born in sin, none are fit to be made one with Christ. But when Jesus paid for our sins on the cross, He made a way for us to receive that gift and be made one with Him by the cleansing power of His blood. We who were not suitable are now robed in His righteousness. We who were not fit, are now looking forward to the marriage supper of the Lamb!
