Encouragement for Election Day - November 5, 2024
“He removes kings and raises up kings…”
From Daniel 2:21
The Kingdom of God is the only One that will exist forever. All others rise and fall. I wanted to share how the Lord has given me hope and encouragement even in these times of a greatly divided country, and candidates that don’t float my boat.
First, if you’re an American citizen please vote for the sake of all who served to defend our right to do so. Vote your conscience, then move on. As soon as the results are in, let’s begin to pray for that leader. If there is some time before we know the outcome, as in the election of 2000, God is sovereign over that. Keep your eye on the One who orchestrates. He has a plan.
Then remember that the very candidate you dread winning the election, could be used in a way that ushers in revival – even if they are opposed to God and His ways. I heard a pastor from years ago say Ahab and Jezebel couldn’t stop God’s plans. Neither can these candidates.
Finally, God told Pharaoh He raised him up to show His power. God is not concerned with our glory; the glory of nations; or the glory of any candidate. He is concerned with the glory of His great name. He wanted Egypt to know He is the Lord. America and all other nations will know it, too. Psalm 46:10 assures it.
If you’re a believer, your citizenship is in a Kingdom that cannot be shaken. Keep your eyes and your efforts there, even as we seek to bless our own nation. Get excited about God’s plans for you in these times.
“The LORD has established His throne in heaven,
And His kingdom rules over all.”
Psalm 103:19
