Awestruck Wonder - Day Two: Brought Jesus Up From the Dead

“Now may the God of peace

who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead,

that great Shepherd of the sheep,

through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

make you complete in every good work to do His will,

working in you what is well pleasing in His sight,

through Jesus Christ,

to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”

Hebrews 13:20-21 NKJV

What treasures we find in these verses! Yesterday we mediated on the fact that God is a God of peace who has made a way for souls to be at peace with Him through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Our next treasure reveals that our God of peace brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead. Let that sink in. May it never cease to amaze us. It was in this that we gained opportunity for cleansing and redemption was born. While death could not keep Life in the ground, Jesus literally died on the cross to overcome sin and death. It purchased our salvation from the wrath of God. His resurrection brought the greatest victory ever won.

“‘O Death, where is your sting?

O Hades, where is your victory?’

The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.

But thanks be to God,

who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

1 Corinthians 15:55-57

I’m so thankful that we serve a God who loves life and counts death as an enemy.

While we ruminate on what His dying and rising from the dead affords us, just look at what we’ve been invited into from Romans 8:11,

“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you,

He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies

through His Spirit who dwells in you.”

He provides all we need to love and serve Him, so that we can share the good news of eternal life with others, and work to strengthen our brothers and sisters in Christ. We’ve been written into the story of the ages! May we bring much glory to the One who would do such a thing.
