Advent Day Eleven: If Jesus Had Not Come, We Would Not Know True Love

Once people lived as children of the Most High. His love provided everything they needed for delight; to reflect His goodness. But they divorced from His family and became children of the world ruled by the evil one. A world defining love very differently than the King.

What if Jesus had not come? We would forever be separated from true love and living under cruel bondage.

But Jesus did come!

“In this the love of God was made manifest among us,

that God sent his only Son into the world,

so that we might live through him.”

1 John 4:9

For those who receive the gift of His saving grace, 1 John 3:1a declares,

“See what kind of love the Father has given to us,

that we should be called children of God; and so we are.”

He says to His children in Romans 12:9,

“Let love be genuine.

Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.”

If we are clinging to what is not good – something outside of His order, – we are not loving well. Ephesians 3:19 says we are to know the love of Christ that we might be filled with the fullness of God. That is how we shine as lights in a world that desperately needs true love.

Christ’s work is so complete, powerful, and enduring that Romans 8:38-39 assures that nothing can separate us from His love. This presents our warning for the future. Only those in Christ cannot be separated. If you are still separated from God, you are separated from true love.

Lord, please cause us to know the love of Christ! May many choose Your love and bow the knee to receive Your gift of salvation to become children of the Most High.
