A Providential Kitten Saga

I just have to share that two days after I posted the final part of the kitten saga in October of 2019, my life would change forever. In God’s perfect timing some things were exposed, revealing that someone I trusted was not to be trusted. A few days after things began to unravel, I was walking and praying when the thought went through my mind, “You need to thank me that I’m rescuing you.” I remember saying something like, Lord, thank You for rescuing me, but…rescue? What are we talking about?

The Lord began to bring things to light that I hoped would spur repentance and salvation. I still pray for this person’s eternal rescue. The shock and betrayal take healing, but the testimony of what the Lord has done throughout is amazing. I realized these kitten analogies were speaking specifically to my own rescue that felt more like a nightmare. I’m sure Abigail’s initial rescue felt scary to her, too.

It’s dear that I named her Abigail, because in 1 Samuel 25 there’s a woman named Abigail who was married to a man who was “harsh and evil in his doings.” The Lord taught me so much from that chapter, and I learned from her example.

So Abigail and her kittens were part of a providential rescue. She’s a visual reminder of the Lord’s faithfulness to His children. While the full beauty of all of our stories will likely not be seen until eternity, we’ve already witnessed Him redeeming this one in precious ways that cause all eyes to land on Him. He uses our trials and pain for Kingdom gain.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time.”

Ecclesiastes 3:11
