Journeying in Genesis: Success in the Garden
According to John 15:1, our Father is the Gardener. In the garden He has placed you, He wants you bearing much fruit for His glory with much success. We’re meditating on Genesis 2:8,
“And the LORD God planted a garden in Eden, in the east,
and there he put the man whom he had formed.”
“The LORD God…”
This is the Hebrew יהוה (Yĕhovah) – the self-Existent or Eternal; Jehovah, the Lord. The next is אלהים (‘elohiym) – plural of ʼĕlôwahh and means the supreme God.
God did not tell Adam to go plant a garden. The self existent, eternal, Creator and Ruler of all planted the garden. In the same way, He has planted your ministry and placed you in it. The more I learn about God and His ways, the more I find rest and peace.
Deuteronomy 11 refers to the nation of Israel as they prepared to head into the Promised Land – the garden God had prepared for them in which to glorify Him. Hear these words for your ministry – the garden in which the Lord has placed you. Possess it, don’t let the enemy near it, and know that God’s eyes are on it to care for it. (Deuteronomy 11:12) He does these things out of love for us, yes, but ultimately for the sake of His great name.
“And if you will indeed obey my commandments that I command you today,
to love the LORD your God,
and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
he will give the rain for your land in its season,
the early rain and the later rain,
that you may gather in your grain and your wine and your oil.”
Deuteronomy 11:13-14
Lord, cause us to hear and obey!
