Journeying in Genesis: Provision
We’ve been going through creation and seeing how things were, are, and will be. All that God did was good. Scientific discoveries only add to our wonder of His brilliance and creativity. Let’s continue to learn from and appreciate His orderly arrangement. We live in a disruption of that perfect order, but as believers we know that Christ has already won the victory to restore it. We will live in it for all eternity – blessed be His name!
Continuing in Day Six God tells us to look at something,
“And God said,
‘Behold,
I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth,
and every tree with seed in its fruit.
You shall have them for food.
And to every beast of the earth
and to every bird of the heavens
and to everything that creeps on the earth,
everything that has the breath of life,
I have given every green plant for food.’
And it was so.
And God saw everything that he had made,
and behold, it was very good.
And there was evening and there was morning,
the sixth day.”
God is always working in a multifaceted way. Even as He made the earth beautiful, He planned that those with the breath of life would need to eat. Plants have many functions, and one is to feed. I love so much about the nature of God, including His gracious provision. And while He provides physical food, He also provides in every other aspect including spiritual food.
“Your words were found, and I ate them,
And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart;
For I am called by Your name,
O LORD God of hosts.”
Jeremiah 15:16
