Honoring the Creator

Years ago, I was walking down the beach just thankful to be there. I was praising our Creator for the opportunity, the wonder, and the beauty of it all. I asked Him to teach me how to live a life that honors Him. I have so far to go, and He is so patient as He does the work to grow us in Christ.

I walked by a family that included a tiny toddler still wearing his bib from dinner. Suddenly one of the many beautiful birds that fly around the surf came near him. He threw his hand in the air and screamed with delight. He didn’t squeal, He screamed. Not only was it adorable, but it hit me how blessed the Creator must be when His creation is so appreciated.

“Yes; have you never read,

‘Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies

you have prepared praise’?”

Matthew 21:16b

I felt like the Lord was reminding me that genuine gratitude and childlike faith are how we live lives that honor Him. He doesn’t want us to outgrow wonder, but to grow in it! King David, who was not opposed to throwing a hand in the air at the wonder of His God, could hardly contain himself with all he was about to share in Psalm 103,

“Bless the LORD, O my soul,

and all that is within me,

bless his holy name!”

Pslam 103:1

Maybe that would be the translation of that toddler scream. May we forever praise the wonder of the God of all creation.

“Worthy are you, our Lord and God,

to receive glory and honor and power,

for you created all things,

and by your will they existed and were created.”

Revelation 4:11
